Down North Outfitters was established in 2018 on the beautiful Hille Ranch. Located in Southern Trego County on the Smoky Hill River, this unique 4500 acre property provides a diverse habitat to support a wide variety of game species including whitetail and mule deer, turkey, migratory birds, upland game birds, and predator species. Whitetail Deer
Year round trophy management keeps our whitetail deer population big and healthy. We provide some of the best habitat combined with quality nutrition and stress free living to grow them big. Kansas residents can purchase tags over the counter while non residents have an excellent chance of obtaining tags in the draw. Whether sitting over food plots and feeders or getting mobile on a spot and stalk hunt, you're sure to have an experience of a lifetime.
Mule Deer
Back country style mule deer hunting at its finest. Kansas resident tags are available over the counter for bow and muzzleloader and are a draw only application for rifle. Non residents tags are a bit more difficult to come by being a draw only, but if youre lucky enough to score a tag, we can provide you with the experience of a lifetime. There's nothing like the thrill of stalking a big Western Kansas mule deer buck. Mule deer hunts are season dependent at DNO. Check in to see if we're offering mule deer hunting for the season
Coyote
Western style predator hunts. Kansas has no bag limits and a year around season for daytime hunting. Kansas recently added a three month season allowing the use of artificial light during night hunts. That means you can use spot lights, night vision, and thermal optics. Down North also has night vision equipment available for rent. Bring your calls and your gear and set off across the high plains prairie for a showdown between predators.
Upland Birds
Extreme drought the last few years has really taken a toll on bird populations. We can offer planted bird hunts. This allows you to get out and do some dog training, get a new hunter some experience, and brush up on your shooting skills.

Whether getting covered with leeches swimming in the creek or climbing the bluffs overlooking the Smoky River, they learned every square inch of the Ranch.
